We are working on a range of interesting projects, with a particular focus on software development for the automotive industry, electrical bicycles and Internet of Things.

Job Description

Problem statement.
Many consumer products have buzzers or speakers to provide audible feedback to users. The output is created by audio components and the specific integration into a housing. Therefore the development includes an iterative process of building, testing and comparing possible solutions. Audio test chambers are normally large in size and costly to use. The idea is to achieve meaningful and indicative test results with a compact setup where we focus on making near field audio measurements instead.

Proposed solution.
The preliminary structure of the project is made up of three parts:
a.    Study: An initial phase investigating standard solutions for audio measurements with different equipment and effectiveness with the purpose of making near field tests. Study literature with state-of-art solutions and define important sound parameters to be measured.
b.    Design: A design and implementation phase where a test setup and process for acoustic near field measurements is proposed. Programming will be done in Matlab.
c.    Evaluation: An evaluation phase includes acoustic near field measurements in comparison standard solutions and describe the correlation. Potentially support this with simulations.

Scope of master thesis project.
Two students completing 30 credits each (20 weeks) onsite at the Lund office.

Qualifications

Your profile.
In order to be successful in the project with think you are:
•    Familiar with Matlab.
•    A student in Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering or similar, with a strong interest in acoustics, measurement techniques and signal processing.
•    Self-driven, able to challenge yourself, and gain the experience needed to move the project forward. You need to be “hands-on” as the goal is to finalize a measurement setup.
