The Purpose Communication Team - let’s introduce ourselves
You will be part of a newly established team which aims at accelerating Volvo Cars’ purpose agenda, internally and externally. Our company purpose is “Freedom to move in a personal, sustainable and safe way”, building on our long-history and dedication to safety, and placing the same importance to sustainability.
This global team manages areas such as action-orientated purpose campaigns, Employer Branding, sustainability communication, increasing the voice of Volvo Cars in relevant cultural days and events, and nurturing meaningful collaborations.
Communication Strategist, Sustainability – this is what you’ll do
In this role, you will drive the development and implementation of compelling evidence-based narratives, stories and messages that create engagement around our sustainability journey and industry leadership, across all global channels, and drive progress.
You will strengthen employee engagement and build the Volvo Car brand to external audiences through media, influencers and other third parties.
To deliver, you will work collaboratively both internally and externally, building strong relationships with stakeholders and supporting them with high level communication guidance and actions. You will work with the wider teams in Communications, Sustainability, Design, Marketing & Brand, People Experience, our markets and external partners to secure maximum impact and lasting change.
You will work with our business priorities and planning, as well as proactively identifying newsworthy communication opportunities and develop engaging, meaningful and creative sustainability communication strategies. You will have the ability to connect to external events, societal trends and topics of relevance to our sustainability strategy and amplify our voice as well as identify opportunities or solutions for lasting change.
If successful, you will have helped to drive meaningful and lasting positive change in our business and wider society, attract new loyal Volvo fans to us – consumers, talents and other stakeholders – and contributed to sustainable growth.

We are looking for a passionate and creative communications professional with a proven track record in developing and delivering engaging and motivating communication strategies.
We believe you have a natural passion for news, communication and engaging sustainability communication.
You will have extensive experience in PR, social media or journalism and a demonstratable ability to utilise different channels and mobilisation to deliver the desired business outcome.
You combine your natural interest in creating innovative communication strategies with an ability to always find the right channel for every opportunity.
You have a dedicated interest and knowledge of sustainability, and you acknowledge that it is a business imperative – critical to corporate resilience and success.
Most of all, you share our values and our ambition. Your warm personality and eagerness to collaborate will be welcomed by all of us!
• A strategic, analytical and creative approach to communication planning, who is self-led and has an ability to manage a range of projects, balancing quality and speed
• Understanding of current and emerging global sustainability issues and challenges and the ability to relate them to business action
• Exceptional communication skills and fluent English: verbal, written, visual, interpersonal and inter-departmental
• A natural collaborator with a strong ability to build good working relationships with stakeholders and internal colleagues
• A self-starter who is able to work independently and drive results
• The ability to bring clarity to complex situations and interpret in-depth business and technology messaging in a receiver-friendly way
