The department Infotainment, within Connected Experience product stream, is responsible for the development and enabling of Volvo Cars new Infotainment system powered by Android. Volvo Cars was the first company to team up with Google, developing a system together which re-thinks the nature of car infotainment, defined by a user-friendly interface and an unparalleled connectivity. What do we offer?
We are now looking to strengthen our team of software developers. The team has complete ownership of features and collaborates with partners and other teams. We secure quality with automatic test cases running in our CI environment, where emulators, rigs or test cars is a part of the set-up to secure the end-to-end experience. You will join a team of highly skilled developers with an established network within the company software and design community. This team has a central role in the Infotainment system’s HMI design and development, being responsible for the component library used by us and our neighboring teams. We cooperate closely with for example UX/Design, the Product Owner and tech leads. The position is based in Lund.

Who are you?
You are an Android app developer with experience in working with UX/UI and components used across a range of device specifications. You are naturally writing testable, scalable and maintainable code that can be swiftly adapted to new or updated requirements. Quality thinking and taking ownership are parts of your characteristics. You are a true collaborator who feel comfortable handling complexity. You are used to working in cross functional teams where collaboration with Interaction and graphic designers is a part of the day-to-day work.

What you need to bring with you:
•    M.Sc in Software Engineering or corresponding relevant experience
•    Experience in Java/Kotlin app development
•    Experience in Android stack and related development and build tools (Android Studio, Gradle and Make)
•    Writing automated unit and integration tests as a natural part of design and implementation
•    Comfortable working in a Linux environment
•    Experience in working with Git/Gerrit/Jenkins tools
•    Good communication skills, including in English (written and spoken)
 

It is meritorious if you have:
•    Knowledge about established Android UI concepts and modern techniques like Jetpack Compose
•    Experience in creating and maintaining software libraries
•    Experience in stakeholder and requirements handling
•    Swedish Driver’s license (B-level)
