What we offer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Owner for Planning to join our dynamic Financial Planning & Value Creation team. Within the Finance organization, our team is responsible for maximizing value creation in the company. We combine analytical and strategic thinking to proactively identify and support key management decisions with holistic analyses and insights, both within and across functions. As part of this we oversee business planning, target setting, strategy execution, investments, and management reporting. We are now embarking on a journey aiming to build the best FP&A analytics and tools in the world – And we offer you the opportunity to shape this from start.

 

What you'll do

As a Product Owner, you will play a pivotal role in the development, implementation, and enhancement of our Group financial planning product(s). You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, designers, data analysts, and key business stakeholders across the entire Volvo Car Group organization (incl., Finance, Commercial operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, etc.), to define the product roadmap and drive its successful execution.

 

You are the first one to lead this and will initially drive this work together with the Head of Financial Planning & Value Creation and the Deputy CFO. Initially we will start this journey as a project but will evolve this into a proper Business analytics team. Ultimately, you will lead a group of programmers developing, defining, and maintaining the solution(s) we end up with.

 

More specifically your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and maintain a clear product vision and roadmap for the financial planning product, aligning it with the company's overall strategic objectives
  • Lead and drive the implementation of the vision and the technical solution
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into user stories, prioritizing features and functionality based on value and feasibility
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of product increments, actively participating in agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the success of the product and make data-driven decisions to optimize its performance
  • Gather and analyze user feedback, market research, and industry trends to identify opportunities for product improvement and new feature development
  • Act as a product evangelist, effectively communicating product updates, features, and enhancements to both internal teams and potential external stakeholders
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and potential regulatory changes related to automotive industry and financial planning

 

What you’ll bring

We believe that you are externally oriented, curious, proactive, and collaborative, with confidence

enough to speak your mind. You are also excellent in analytical and conceptual problem solving, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

 

More formally, you have master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance) or equivalent practical experience. Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role, preferably in the financial technology sector or a related industry is also required. Advanced degrees and certifications are a plus but not mandatory.

 

Specific skills we are looking for:

  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to gather and interpret data, identify patterns, and make informed decisions
  • Demonstrated experience of programming / coding abilities (e.g., Python, C++) – you need to be able to jump-in and do hands-on development work if needed
  • Proficiency in agile methodologies and product management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, and financial planning concepts
  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities, with a track record of driving successful product launches and iterations
  • Passion for innovation and a customer-centric mindset, with a focus on delivering exceptional user experiences
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment

 

Our Head Office is located in Gothenburg, and so is this role. However, we are open to consider potential flexibility in location (e.g., Stockholm), with shared time in Gothenburg office (>60%).
