Our company is offering a unique Master's thesis opportunity focused on the analysis of rotor and shaft fitting methods. This research is pivotal for enhancing the performance, reliability, and lifespan of mechanical systems. If you are a passionate Master's student with a strong technical background, a penchant for analysis, calculations, and applied physics, this is the perfect project for you.

 

Scope:

 

You will be involved in a comprehensive project that addresses the following objectives:

 

  • Literature Review: Conduct a thorough review of scientific and technical literature related to rotor and shaft fitting methods in mechanical engineering.
  • Case Analysis: Investigate real world cases of failures in the mating area between rotors and shafts, identifying the causes and impacts of these failures on mechanical systems.
  • Development of Enhanced Methods: propose and develop advanced analysis and fitting methods, taking into account the specificities of different rotor and shaft fitting processes.
  • Validation through Simulation and/or Experimentation: Apply the proposed methods to actual rotors and shafts, utilizing computational simulation tools and/or conducting experiments to validate their effectiveness and compare them with existing methods.

Requirements:

 

  • Final period of the master's degree.

  • Mechanical engineering, materials engineering, physics, process engineering students.

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

 

Meritorious

 

  • Experience with CAE and CAD.

  • Knowledge of geometric tolerances.


Duration
  • The work will start in Jan 2024, to be discussed.

  • The duration for this thesis work is 20 weeks.

  • 30 ECTS (academic credits) if in agreement with your Thesis Advisor in University

  • This thesis is to be conducted by 1 or 2 Students (working in pair).
