Director, Studio Engineering - Volvo Cars Design Department

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient individual to join Volvo Cars' Design department as the Director of Studio Engineering. Key Responsibilities:

As the Director of Studio Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing and leading the four groups within the Studio Engineering Department:

Studio Engineering - Exterior

Studio Engineering - Interior

Studio Engineering - Color, Material and Finish (CMF)

Studio Engineering - UX Prototyping

Your role will extend to understanding and preferably having hands-on experience in the end-to-end process of setting up a car, from conceptualization to production. Your extensive technical knowledge, coupled with years of experience in the automotive industry, will be essential in guiding these teams to deliver cutting-edge technical solution to meet design intention.

Key Qualifications:

Technical Proficiency: A broad technical background with extensive experience in the automotive industry is a must.

Leadership: Proven experience in leading diverse teams, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, innovation, and achieving exceptional design outcomes.

Operational Excellence: This role requires a hands-on approach and a deep understanding of the operational aspects of automotive design.

Networking Skills: Build and maintain a robust network within Research and Development (R&D) and the Project Organization to facilitate seamless collaboration.

Budget Management: Take ownership of the budget associated with your department, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to meet project goals.

Collaborative Mindset: Foster strong collaboration not only within the Design department but also with other cross-functional teams.

Requirements:

Bachelor's or Master's degree

15+ years of experience in automotive design, with a focus on Exterior, Interior, CMF, UX.

Proven track record of successfully leading teams in a design/engineering environment.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
