Product Area (PA) Rock Tools, within Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology (SMRT), is a world-leading producer of drill bits, rods and tubes for customers in the rock tools industry. The PA works to continually develop new rock drilling tools and cemented carbide grades designed to improve our customers’ operations and deliver superior, cost-effective performance.
We are now looking for a driven and supportive Head of R&D for Product Area (PA) Rock Tools, with location in Sandviken, Sweden. We offer an opportunity to take a leading role in developing our R&D department and the chance to build a network spanning across the globe.
Job Summary
As Head of R&D, you manage, lead and direct the R&D organization with global accountability for the PA and ensure development and delivery of innovative products and solutions that provide value for our customers. You promote a change in working methods and are responsible for building and strengthening a culture of productivity, meeting profitability targets and business objectives. You lead the implementation of lean principles in the R&D environment to push R&D productivity to the next level. You ensureexcellent communication and close collaboration with product management and supply, as well as with other PAs and R&D organizations, in order to identify synergies.
You are an active part of the PA management team and report directly to the President of Rock Tools.International travel is required in your work.
Your profile
You have at least five to ten years’ experience in leading positions working with R&D and related processes in industrial environments and matrix organizations. As we value your technical or manufacturing background, we put a major emphasis on your successful leadership skills and experience in driving change in working methods and culture. You have genuine business understanding and a profound interest in undertaking necessary EHS regulations and guidelines. You have experience of working with lean principles in a support/service environment, or in manufacturing. As we act in a global environment, you must communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing, while skills in Swedish are advantageous.
