Om tjänsten

Background

Cloud based service usually provide virtualized resources (e.g., vCPU, vMEM) over physical machines distributed in one or more data centers. For easy and efficient management, these distributed machines typically organized into clusters of some form. Kubernetes, Mesos, and Nomad are examples of such cluster management systems. In Ericsson Research, we are exploring novel concepts to assemble and form the cluster in a dynamic and efficient way based on factors like network topology as well as requirements from applications.

Project Goals

The goal of the master thesis is to develop algorithms or systems that can optimize the distributed cluster structure dynamically according to some predefined policies or criteria. Such algorithm and system could be based on the previous work we have done. It is also important to verify and evaluate the designed algorithm or system in a real or emulated large-scale environment.
