Thesis Work - Measuring Room, Agile Project Management

Background

At Volvo Car Engine the department of Measuring room is responsible for the measuring of various production parts in the day to day operation and of developing and programming the needed program for the machines. The programmers are a part of the new engine / update programs, needing both input from a cross functional team and delivering output to various customers during the project. The increase complexity of projects in a global setting have led to that this process and projects is today difficult to control and govern over.

Scope

The main goal of the project is to model a process flow describing the different steps needed to develop the programs. The different interaction point within the project, input and outputs from the programmers. Develop a project workflow based on agile concepts be able to:

• Project status visibility
• Plan overview
• Meeting structure
• Governs structure
• Deliver on Key milestones

Personal profile

• We are looking for students who are analytic, self-motivated and result oriented in their problem solving approach
• Communication skills are important since information will be needed from several different parts of the organization
• Previous knowledge of programing and agile concepts is a requirement. Suitable backgrounds is software engineering with a focus on operations development

Duration

• The project is suitable for 1-2 B.Sc. students for 1 semester
• 30 ECTS points
• Starting January 2018
