Position Summary

 

Ericsson is seeking to hire a Vice President & Head of Internet of Things (IoT).

 

Ericsson’s strategic intent with the IoT business is to secure relevance of 3GPP and Operators in IoT and to secure new profitable growth for our customers and Ericsson. IoT is also a key success factor for 5G. The Head of the IoT business unit is responsible for the IoT Strategy execution, incl. the development of a competitive portfolio, securing efficient and effective customer engagement and global delivery based on a XaaS business and operating model, defining competitive commercial models, while building the IoT ecosystem in close collaboration with prioritized industrial partners.

 

IoT is an independent Operating unit and serves as an incubation zone within which potentially disruptive technologies are developed with the ambition of becoming a transformative and profitable future business in Ericsson. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer and SVP of Technology and Emerging Business, the Head of IoT is responsible for driving Ericsson’s emerging business within IoT by leading the identification, development and ignition of technology, business and operating model innovation through the first phases of the lifecycle. IoT is measured on P/L and quarterly milestones related to strategy execution.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DELIVERABLES

 

  • P/L responsibility for the IoT portfolio, leading global IoT organization of more than 800 employees with main sites across Sweden, Finland, China, US, India complemented with sales engagement experts and delivery teams in selected geographies.
  • Set the IoT strategy and enable strategy execution across Ericsson in a milestone driven approach
  • Establish an industry leading platform, offering world class connectivity and other critical IoT platform capabilities for ecosystem partners to develop applications for targeted verticals. 
  • Build and develop a best-in-class SW development and delivery organization (DevOps)
  • Partner with Group Technology to align target architecture and maximize synergies across Business Areas to enable industry leading E2E IoT offering
  • Build and develop  world-class operational and commercial model
  • Ensure best in class Time to Market and Total Quality Management processes
  • Drive strategic customer engagements with selected key Operators
  • Build and develop ecosystems and industry partnerships to accelerate market positioning with Operators, value creation and innovation
  • Build and develop a world class business development organization to support Market Areas in establishing IoT footprint in prioritized geographies (North America, North-East Asia, Europe) to enable scale and a growing profitable IoT business
  • Responsible for marketing and positioning Ericsson in IoT industry

 

CRITICAL EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS

 

  • Recognized thought leader, who anticipates market and customer trends, effectively synthesizes implications, develops inspiring strategies, mobilizing key stakeholder groups to drive the execution
  • Proven track record of successfully enabling and driving SW product development and market introduction.
  • Solid understanding of critical industry pain points and key emerging technologies
  • Proven skills in building and maintaining customer and partner relationship at C-level
  • Proven experience from a XaaS business and operating models
  • Understanding of Ericsson portfolio and contact network across several technology areas
  • Proven track record of building, developing and inspiring high-performance teams
  • Outstanding team work, networking and collaboration skills
