Product developer for civil aircraft projects i Linköping

Business Area Industrial Products & Services (IPS) includes Business Areas Aerostructures, Avionics and Combitech, as well as Venture’s portfolio of joint ventures and fully owned subsidiaries. IPS is run as a holding company where every company develops and works with strategies for profitable growth according to current conditions at their respective market. A great part of the business occurs on a business-to-business market. The Business Area has approximately 2400 employees and has a turnover of approximately 4 billion SEK.

At Aerostructures you will be an important part of a team developing, industrializing and producing airplane structures mainly for the civil, but also to some extent for the military, market. The unit is responsible for developing and industrializing the structure including system installation to external costumers, mainly Airbus and Boeing. The business also works proactively within R&D with development of new technology for the products of the future. The personnel of the development department is organized within 8 units whereof construction is one. For this unit, we are now looking for product developers for structure Construction.

Your role will be to participate in the phases of development in current projects, from concept studies to releasing of design data in the customer’s system. You will develop an extended network, both within Saab but also towards the customer. As the main part of our business is directed towards the civil market, our projects are managed in an international environment.

You will work with design of airplane structure in CAD (Catia V5) as well as with other design related work such as requirements management, design of mechanical systems/installations, projection of test samples/mock-ups etc. The work is always performed close to the production unit when starting up and releasing new products. As a product developer you are often responsible for overlooking the product development and it is not unusual to eventually continue towards a leading role. 

We are looking for someone with at least a technical college degree and preferably a couple of years of experience within the field. You have experience from working with CATIA, Creo or equal programs. Experience from product development is an advantage. Good knowledge in English is required as all documentation as well as communication with the customer is in English. Other languages are not required but are of course welcome, in particular Swedish.

Well-developed leadership skills are also meritorious as a great deal of our work is conducted in project form and the product developer is often given a coordinating/leading role in the development work.
