R&D Engineer i Solna

Om tjänsten

Do you want to be part of developing grid solutions for the future energy landscape? Do you want to be a force in taking Vattenfall forward in this direction enabling our grids to make room for new active customers, include higher amounts of weather dependent power production, and speed up the communication and control of our grids?

If yes: we have a great opportunity for you!

The section Power Technology works with power system analysis needed to understand bottlenecks and dynamic behaviors in the electrical grid as well as optimization and control of the power system including both its loads and productions. Vattenfall plays an active role in implementing new ways of controlling the power systems. We believe the decentralized production will be the next energy revolution supported and driven by our customers, local control systems, IT, electrical components, as well as your engagement.

As an R&D Engineer you will strengthen our Power Technology Section by working to develop and use new technology in the distribution system towards better and more efficient control of power system components, Microgrid (understanding new components of grids, grid codes, and overview of the grid). The competence is crucial for Vattenfall in many areas such as several upcoming microgrids, electrification of different industries, as well as wind power projects. The position is needed for strategic development and business case analysis for new grid solutions such as dimensioning of energy storage and its dynamic behavior and understanding of how bottlenecks can be avoided by using new technology.

• You will lead your own customer focused projects, including communicating and developing customer relationships with both Business Areas Distribution and Wind.

Your profile and personal skills
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Power Technology or similar.
• At least 3-5 years experience as an Electrical Engineer with a power system profile
• You have strong command in simulation tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, DigSilent Power Factory, and Matlab.
• Experience in design and analysis of power systems for either distribution grids, energy industries, or wind power systems are meritorious.

On the personal level, you are analytical, committed and self-driven with good communication and interpersonal skills. You are capable of leading teams and able to communicate clearly at all levels. You are able to develop rough ideas and ambitions into concrete and successful projects. As the work involves extensive interaction both internally and with external partners and suppliers, a good understanding of commercial aspects and an ability to establish and maintain relationships and networks is key. A passion for new technology we believe is a necessity for this role.

We offer you a flexible and warm work environment, a diverse group in age, gender and nationalities where everyone is on an equal footing.
