Master Thesis: Building a secure operating platform in Linux i Järfälla

Surveillance provides efficient solutions for safety and security, for surveillance and decision support, and for threat detection and protection. The portfolio covers airborne, ground-based and naval radar, electronic warfare, combat systems and C4I solutions.

Our business area is growing rapidly and has several parallel projects running where there is a great potential for own development and possibility to change the assignment.

Background

Saab Surveillance builds, among other things, secure operating platforms for customers with high demands on IT-security. Systems used by the armed forces are subjected to intense scrutiny by the intelligence services and are expected to conform to the highest security standards. Such systems typically consists of functions for disk protection, access control, prevention of unauthorized use, system hardening and more.

You will be located at SAAB Surveillance (Järfälla), which will provide supervision concerning the development and provide necessary software tools.

Assignment

The goal of the thesis is to identify and evaluate disk encryption tools and other Linux-components for use in a secure operating platform. Tools should be evaluated with respect to security, performance, platform compatibility, licensing and other aspects. The final step of the thesis work would be a proof of concept implementation of the platform. 

We believe that you are a motivated student with a strong interest in computer security. Furthermore, familiarity with Windows and Linux systems will be helpful. In addition you are fluent in spoken and written Swedish.

This position includes access to classified information, therefore you are required to conduct a security screening in accordance with the Protective Security Act and be approved for security clearance by the authority.
