Master Thesis - Researcher on Video Compression Technologies i Stockholm, Sweden

Job Summary:
We are looking for candidates for a Master Thesis on video compression technologies for emerging immersive video representations such as ultra-high definition video, point clouds or light fields.
Next generation video compression is required to reduce bandwidth requirements for these new types of immersive video representations to enable a widespread and cost-effective deployment of AR/VR/XR applications based on those representations.
Ericsson Research has been a leader in the development of video compression technologies. This Master Thesis project will research compression algorithms for the new immersive video representations.

Responsibilities:
The objective of this thesis work is research on algorithms targeting improvements in video coding efficiency, reductions in computational complexity or algorithmic latency in video codecs. The work includes literature studies of video compression concepts, implementation of algorithm implementations, results evaluations using both subjective assessment  and objective measurements, documentation and presentation.

Key Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar
• Programming skills in C++ and Python
• Knowledge of video or image compression is a plus
• Strong analytical and creative thinking
• Good teamwork skills
• Passion about your work
• Very good English language proficiency, in writing and speaking
