Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of sustainable transport solutions.

GDPR implementation at Scania – done and dusted? No, we are gradually incorporating it into our daily operations. Although Privacy and Data Protection is nothing new to Scania the GDPR, the General Data Protection Regulation, requests that we change our way of working. A Group Data Protection Office is now being established; to support and monitor the Scania organisation in changing the way of working and doing the right things right in relation to privacy and data protection. We are still learning how to interpret and apply the regulations in tricky situations at Scania, so therefore in need of a Privacy Specialist with a solid legal profile to our Data Protection Office. Short-term we are mainly thinking Europe and GDPR compliance but mid-term there are no geographical nor legal restrictions and the aim is rather to think Privacy. The right candidate is expected to influence and contribute to the development of the Data Protection Office, to make it productive and highly appreciated. The Data Protection Office is part of the Group Governance Risk and Compliance function but is also part of an active cross-functional network. In this role you will be reporting to the Group Data Protection Officer.

Job description

Taking the specialist competences into account the duties of the Group Data Protection Office shall be shared in between the DPO and two Privacy Specialists; one with a legal profile and one with an IT profile.  

The tasks include but are not limited to;

  • Advice and train the business on Privacy and Data Protection, concerning e.g. privacy by design and legal/regulatory compliance
  • Improve processes and methods for central as well as local activities
  • Monitor risk and compliance status
  • Provide internal stakeholders with recurrent status reports
  • Implement and establish adequate system support for GDPR related duties
  • Participate in Privacy and Data Protection projects within the Group

Profile

We are looking for a candidate that is an approachable and result-oriented team-player but at the same time able to take own initiatives and work independently. The position means international cooperation and travels, thus fluent written and spoken English is a must. Furthermore, we find you need to have the following education and experiences:

  • Master of Laws
  • Knowledge and interest in Privacy and Data protection
  • Practical experience from e.g. “data protection by design and by default”, as stipulated by the GDPR, is an advantage although the endeavour to support the colleagues in charge of the task is more important, as well as the ambition to become a recognized Privacy Specialist.
