Swedish Red Cross (SRC) Asia and Pacific Unit is seeking a country representative to be based in Myanmar, Yangon. We are looking for someone who can strengthen our humanitarian support to Myanmar and also take lead in a new bilateral programme.
Unit
The Asia and Pacific unit is responsible for SRC long-term program support and support to disasters response in the region. It manages relations to partners (IFRC, ICRC and national Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies). All in accordance with SRC humanitarian strategy.
Responsibility
The Country Representative (CR) is responsible for strengthening of the SRC partnership with the Myanmar Red Cross (MRCS) and the cooperation with Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement as well as other representatives and for the successful management of SRC supported programmes in Myanmar.
The CR will work closely with the MRCS and partners to manage a programme portfolio focusing on health, disaster risk reduction and organizational development. The portfolio includes a new bilateral programme "Accountable Resilient Branches" where the CR will line-manage two project management staff.
The CR coordinates development and quality assurance of SRC supported projects and emergency response operations. You conduct regular monitoring of supported programmes, coordinate evaluations and follow up on financial and risk management as well as write reports. You are actively contributing to coordination between emergency response and long-term programmes. You ensure that delegates and SRC staff are well prepared ahead of travel.
The position demands flexibility, an ability to adapt to new priorities and frequent travel to areas of operation.
The Country Representative will also be devoted to representation including establishing, developing and strengthening the relationship with the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) in Myanmar as well as other relevant organizations such as the European Union and the United Nations.
The CR serves as SRC representative in Myanmar, based in MRCS office in Yangon and reports to SRC’s Head of Asia and Pacific Unit
